WHY WE EXIST / WHAT IS ++

WHY WE EXIST / WHAT IS ++

Most people who want to give well don’t know where to start. Good opportunities are hard to find, good advice is uneven, and too much of what we know sits inside a few institutions and networks. We know that can be better. Our goal is to help existing dollars go further ++ grow the total amount of giving in the world.

DoublePlus uses its full set of resources to make good things happen—grants, investments, and the policy and political work that make them stick—pointed at the problems where a dollar goes furthest. Our main cause areas are: global health and development, U.S. government effectiveness, scientific and technological progress, energy and climate, and catastrophic risks.

We put our own capital to work, borrowing from what’s rigorous wherever we find it and leaving behind what stops holding up to scrutiny. Then we try to make what we learn useful to everyone else. If the only dollars that get more effective are our own, we’ve missed something.

Do good work ++ make the good work easier to repeat.

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

We move capital, talent, and information toward hard problems and good ideas.

We write checks, but that’s usually not the end of it. We find opportunities, diligence them hard, fund them on our best read rather than a perfect one, and then mostly get out of the way. When it’s useful, we stay close enough to help the work land.

We share what we learn openly, and we try to make good work go further. That means opening the opportunities we’ve already vetted—including the ones we’re backing ourselves—so other donors can co-fund without redoing our diligence. We’re glad to copy the people already doing something well. If someone’s already found the answer, we don’t need to find it twice.

Our ambition is bigger than our portfolio: more good ideas finding the people, capital, and support they need.
